Insert THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE –
You are one step closer to taking control of your career and getting paid what you’re worth.
You are one step closer to greater flexibility and parkouring through the ranks on your path to achieving your ambitions.
Perhaps you have found me by accident, but I’m guessing there is more to it! You’re likely ambitious, frustrated— or both. I can relate. At different points in my career, I’ve felt like this guy from Network who screams,
(Go ahead, listen…it’ll make you feel better – perhaps you’ll even stick your head out a window and YELL!)
This fueled my development of a systematic approach to climbing the notorious corporate ladder.
The proof?
I received six significant raises and four promotions over a six-year period. This led to a 5-time increase in my earnings as well as becoming an executive by age 30. More importantly, I’ve been able to help others, achieve their own impressive results – when they are willing to do the work. In the past few days, I’ve heard from 4 people I’ve helped who either got promoted, got a raise, or have been blown away by the insights from my free guide (which you can get by clicking here).
Notice I said, “willing to”?
The guide isn’t for someone who thinks that reading something makes it so.
You have to be willing to apply what you learn. If you are, then please do read. If not, good luck on the slow and steady, and here is a quote for you—
You’re still here! YAY!
I launched The Velocity Labs to serve as a platform for those seeking the most simplistic path to extraordinary results. For those who want to understand the rules and play the game with advancement in mind and take control of their own destinies versus let someone else dictate their destinies for them. Yuck! Unfortunately, most people don’t realize that there is this game being played around them (internally and externally, by the way) and that they have the choice to actively or passively play. I choose active.
ve·loc·i·ty (vəˈläsədē)
The speed and direction of a moving body.
Career Velocity = The career speed and direction of __________<—your name goes here
You can control your speed based on the effort and time you are willing to put in. It is a direction that becomes the multiplier.
It doesn’t matter how fast you go. If your destination is 100 miles away, but you move in the opposite direction, what will happen? You will end up 200 miles away from your goal and out of gas. Few of us would ever think of starting a journey like this, with no map let alone a plan —just pure faith and let’s see where we end up. Yet that is what most of us do in our careers. Sometimes it works out, but rarely do we reach our full potentials. How could we if we haven’t determined what we expect from ourselves? Oftentimes the only thing we have on our map is “get the job. ”
Once many of us are “in ,” we get to work trusting things will work out. We await the arrival of a Fairy God Mentor who will guide us along the path to success. In the absence of a mentor, we heed the advice of the other voices in our lives— friends, family, and co-workers. Now don’t get me wrong, they mean well.
The problem is that they often don’t have the experience to guide us, but they think they do. The misdirection sends you, the driver, weaving your car all over the place. Maybe you’ll stumble across your destination one day. That is— if you don’t get frustrated and exhausted first. After all, who likes playing a game that’s impossible to win?
Snowplow vs. Feather
A better strategy— set your sites on a specific destination. If you can unleash the power of where you’re going, you can better control your direction and reach your destination faster and with fuel left in your tank to enjoy what you’ve achieved. Wouldn’t it be better to have set your sights on that destination sooner and netted the benefits that include more money, greater flexibility, more respect, and perhaps an earlier, more active retirement?
When it comes to your career— are you a feather drifting in the wind or a snowplow carving your path in a blizzard? Are you getting somewhere or just floating around?
If you are a feather and you want to be a snowplow, then download and read the guide. Once you do, share your biggest insight below.
